O-Zone: Dragostea Din Tei >> Lirik

First time I heard this song was from a software (as its theme song), a freeware I guest. I don't remember what the software was, it was years ago. Years ago but still ear catchy and one of my favorite till now.

Though the song's lyrics look like a voodoo spell (for a non-Romanian -- no offense to Romanians), it's actually not. This song, which is written in Romanian, tells you about the love of a person (claiming himself as an outlaw) to someone he speaks to over the phone. The song titled "Dragostea Din Tei". This song was sung by O-Zone, a Moldovan pop music trio that gained global popularity for their song, this song.

There are several proposed translations of the title, such as "Love from the lime trees" (also called "linden trees") and "Love out of the linden trees". The intended translation is possibly shown in the subtitles of the music video by O-Zone, which translates it as "Love of the linden tree". Linden trees have strong lyrical associations in Romanian poetry, tied to the work of the poet Mihai Eminescu. Therefore the expression may be interpreted as romantic, "linden-type" love.

I hope you love this song as much as I do.
Here are the lyrics, (taken from http://www.catteacorner.com/dragosteadintei.htm)

(1)
Ma-ia-hii, ma-ia-huu, ma-ia-hoo, ma-ia-haha {x4}

Alo, Salut, sunt eu, un haiduc,
Si te rog, iubirea mea, primeste fericirea.
Alo, alo, sunt eu Picasso,
Ti-am dat beep, si sunt voinic,
Dar sa stii nu-ti cer nimic.

(2)
Vrei sa pleci dar nu ma, nu ma iei,
Nu ma, nu ma iei, nu ma, nu ma, nu ma iei.
Chipul tau si dragostea din tei,
Mi-amintesc de ochii tai.

Go to: (2)

Te sun, sa-ti spun, ce simt acum,
Alo, iubirea mea, sunt eu, fericirea.
Alo, alo, sunt iarasi eu, Picasso,
Ti-am dat beep, si sunt voinic,
Dar sa stii nu-ti cer nimic.

Go to: (2) {x2}, (1), (2) {x2}
